Nature Programme

Throughout the summer months, a huge focus area of our centre has been our sustainability and environmental programme.  Over this time, we have been linking with Anita from Growing Kiwi Gardeners, TOCK Earth, and the local Te Ana Maori Rock Art Programme.

We have been learning about waste – why it is important to recycle as much as we can.  And we have been using some of the waste products on site where possible, like using vegetable waste to feed our Tiger Worms.

The children have loved being a part of our garden programme, helping to plant and tend for our new seedlings, and being hands-on when it comes to feeding our worms.  We have learnt all about tiger worms, how to spot the differences between adults and young worms, and even how they breathe.
