Freyberg Park Treasure

A trip to Freyberg Park unearthed a treasure trove of loose parts for children from Lollipops Browns Bay’s Fantails Room.

“We went looking under trees to find some loose part treasures. The children had so much fun comparing sizes, colours, textures, sounds and weights of the things they were finding,” says team leader Joanne Martin.

Loose parts have become the room’s core focus as the children’s interest and enthusiast has soared.

“We believe that children should be involved with as much of their planning and learning as we can offer. We have had some children really enthusiastic about bringing in their own loose parts from home and we greatly appreciate it, as they then come in with awesome ideas and put them into action.”
