Welcome to Lollipops Waiwhetu, a purpose-built early learning centre tucked away in a quiet cul-de-sac in Waiwhetu, Lower Hutt. We offer quality care and education for infants, toddlers, and young tamariki in a nurturing, multicultural environment where relationships and belonging come first.

About Lollipops Waiwhetu

At Lollipops Waiwhetu, we create a warm and inclusive space where tamariki are supported to learn and grow through strong relationships, culture, and child-led learning. Our philosophy is guided by the values of manaakitanga, whanaungatanga, and ako – caring, connection, and learning together.

Our centre has a calm and welcoming feel, with thoughtfully designed indoor and outdoor spaces that inspire curiosity and exploration. We’re influenced by the Reggio Emilia approach and use our environment as a powerful teaching tool to support children’s development.

Tamariki are grouped by age in four separate rooms, each designed to meet their learning needs and stages. Whether your child is just starting to crawl or getting ready for school, our experienced teaching team is here to support them every step of the way.

Our Team

Our kaiako are a passionate, culturally diverse team, with some who have been with us for more than eight years. We’re proud of the strong sense of whānau we’ve built, and we work closely with families to create a supportive, caring environment where every child feels valued.

Our Rooms

Our centre offers safe, engaging spaces where tamariki can explore, play, and connect. From calm infant areas to nature-rich outdoor gardens, every space is set up to support learning through movement, creativity, and relationships.

Infants

Kiwi

Kiwi is our infant space, designed to feel peaceful and nurturing. With a low teacher-to-child ratio, pēpi can safely explore as they begin to crawl and walk. Routines are unhurried and focused on building strong, loving bonds.

Toddlers

Fantail

Our toddlers in the Fantail room are busy discovering their world. With a mix of routine and freedom, they explore learning experiences that support their language, movement, and social development in a space that’s warm, inviting, and filled with opportunities to learn through play.

Young Children

Tūī

Tūī is a place where growing independence shines. Tamariki in this room learn from each other through shared play and tuākana-tēina relationships. The space supports creativity, problem-solving, and a growing sense of self.

Preschool

Kākāpō

Kākāpō is our preschool space, supporting tamariki as they get ready for school. It includes our beautiful Kererū Garden, where children can connect with nature, garden, and enjoy quiet moments. It’s a space for curiosity, confidence, and meaningful learning.
