Meet our Centre Manager

Kiaora

I am Sumathy. I am from Sri Lanka and came to New Zealand in 2003. I am a proud mother of two daughters. Since I was young, I have had a great passion for teaching, especially early childhood years.

I have completed a Montessori Diploma and was teaching in Sri Lanka. After moving to NZ, I completed a Bachelor of Teaching in ECE. I believe that the quality of education a child receives in the early years is indispensable in bringing out their potential.

At Little Earth Montessori Remuera, we focus on fostering independence, curiosity, and respect for the world around us, inspired by Dr. Maria Montessori's educational philosophy. Our curriculum is designed to prepare children for school while nurturing their social, emotional, and cognitive development.

Our centre provides a thoughtfully prepared indoor environment with Montessori materials and a spacious outdoor play area. These features ensure that every child is supported in exploring, discovering, and growing at their own pace.

Centre life includes a blend of structured Montessori activities and free play, helping children engage in meaningful learning. We cater to different age groups with activities tailored to their developmental needs, creating a safe, welcoming atmosphere for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers.

Our Rooms

Our centre is designed to nurture each child's growth, featuring a prepared indoor environment and a spacious outdoor play area. Children have the freedom to explore, learn, and connect with nature in a safe and enriching space.

3 months to 2 years

Tui Room

The Tui Room is designed for our youngest learners, where sensory exploration and gentle guidance help infants develop foundational skills. The space is warm and nurturing, with age-appropriate Montessori materials to stimulate curiosity and growth.

2-3 years

Kiwi Room

The Kiwi Room provides a transition space for toddlers to engage in more structured activities, while still supporting their growing independence. Here, children explore basic concepts through play and hands-on experiences, with a focus on building communication skills and early literacy.

3–5 years

Kakapo Room

In the Kakapo Room, preschoolers participate in activities that prepare them for school and beyond. The room is equipped with Montessori materials that help children refine their fine motor skills, problem-solving abilities, and social interactions, encouraging a sense of responsibility and collaboration.
