About Active Explorers Swanson

At Active Explorers Swanson, we focus on building strong relationships with tamariki and whanau, creating a warm, supportive environment where children can thrive socially, emotionally, and academically. Our centre is purpose-built with six rooms for different age groups, providing tailored spaces for each child’s developmental needs.

We offer a safe, multi-cultural environment with adventurous outdoor spaces where tamariki explore, play, and challenge themselves physically. Inside, the rooms are intentionally designed to spark curiosity and learning, with activities that nurture fine motor skills, literacy, and self-regulation.

Centre life is full of fun and educational activities, from messy play and sensory exploration to cultural celebrations. Each room caters to specific age groups, ensuring that children’s needs are met while offering an enriching experience every day.

Our centre boasts large, inviting indoor and outdoor spaces where tamariki engage in hands-on learning, explore nature, and express their creativity. Every corner is thoughtfully designed to nurture curiosity, independence, and cultural identity.

0 - 12 months

Pīwakawaka iti

This room is a safe and nurturing space where infants receive individualized care, with a focus on sensory exploration, motor skill development, and building trust with our kaiako.

1 - 2 years

Pīwakawaka Nui

Tamariki in this room engage in activities that foster early communication, social skills, and gross motor development, while also exploring the world through play.

2 - 3 years

Kea Iti

This space encourages tamariki to build independence and self-help skills. Children are introduced to structured play, literacy activities, and developing their social interactions with peers.

3 - 4 years

Kea Nui

In this room, tamariki enhance their fine motor skills and explore early numeracy and literacy concepts through engaging, hands-on activities and guided play.

4 - 5 years

Kererū

Focused on school readiness, this room prepares tamariki for the transition to primary school through a mix of structured learning, free play, and social development activities.

In the short amount of time that Cassidy has been at Active Explorers her growth and development has been incredible. Her fine motor skills have developed and can now identify and write the letters of her name! Cassidy is building relationships with the teachers and students and feels a sense of belonging, as do I. I enjoy catching up with the teachers on pick up and drop off to see what Cassidy has been learning through the day. I also love the updates during the day through Storypark. Even though Cassidy is only 3 I feel like she is well on her way to an excellent start to her education. The teachers also extend on what we are learning at home, whether it's te reo maori or reading they get involved and we work together. I love the Active Explorers whanau. Keep up the great work team.

My son thoroughly enjoys his time at Active Explorers in the Super Tots classroom. His teachers encourage his development in all aspects, and ensure that he is happy and having fun at the same time. We have open communication between home and daycare, and know that everyone is working for the best outcome for my son. Active Explorers Airport is a fantastic establishment. As parents, we wanted Zara to feel comfortable in the environment that she spends most of her day in and we found a perfect match in Active Explorers Airport. Zara started at- Active Explorers Airport when she was two and will be turning four soon. We have enjoyed our journey with Active Explorers Airport and would highly recommend them.
