Meet our Centre Manager

Talofa!

I’m Melissa and I am proudly the Centre Manager at Active Explorers Grey Street. I started here as a teacher in 2016, then a Team Leader in 2018, and now in my new role since 2022. I have a background in both business and Early Childhood education. I am a busy mum to four children, two of whom attend the centre.

Grey Street has a wonderful culture and feel to it and is my home away home. I am very proud of how hard my team works to create this vibe for our tamariki and their whānau.

At Active Explorers Grey Street, we focus on providing a stable, inclusive, and multicultural environment that supports each child’s social, emotional, and educational growth. We prioritize care and well-being, ensuring every child feels valued, supported, and ready to take on life’s next big steps.

Our purpose-built centre is equipped with spacious indoor and outdoor areas, including age-appropriate play zones, sensory spaces, and sheltered areas for year-round outdoor activities. We offer a variety of resources to enhance early childhood development, from a whānau library to interactive learning experiences.

Centre life is dynamic and engaging, with a range of activities like weekly football sessions, monthly excursions, and daily age-specific learning times. Our rooms are divided by age group, with tailored activities that encourage independence, literacy, numeracy, and socio-emotional skills.
